Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid has been left out of India's squad for the one-day triangular series against Australia and Sri Lanka starting next month in Australia.
There was no recall for VVS Laxman for the tournament, with the selectors putting the emphasis on youth.
Suresh Raina, who last played an ODI in January 2007, and Praveen Kumar, the allrounder who played an ODI last season, benefited from good performances in Uttar Pradesh's Ranji Trophy season. A third UP player, Piyush Chawla, who was impressive on last year's tour of England, gets the nod for the second spinner's spot ahead of Murali Kartik.
The 16-man team will first face Australia in an international Twenty20 match on February 1, two days before opening the triangular series against the hosts in Brisbane.
