England will be happy as all rounder Andrew Flintoff has come back in the test time after a long injury. England dominated the first three days of the 1st test match due to fine batting by Pietersen and Ian Bell and good bowling by Monty Panesar.

Hashim Amla's fifth century helped South Africa drawn first test easily against England on the 5th and final day of test match at Lords, on Monday, 14th July, 2008. South African batsman batted brilliantly for 2 days after follow-on in the 1st inning thanks to centuries by top 3, Graem Smith, Neil McKenzie and Hashim Amla.

England dominated the 1st 3 days, but South Africa bounced back strongly and survived two days to save the test match. South Africa trailing 346 runs in the 1st inning made 393/3 dec. in the 2nd inning thanks to centuries by captain Graem Smith, made 107 runs off 207 balls, Neil McKenzie, made 138 off 447 balls and Hashim Amla scored 104 runs off 242 balls.

A fine bowling performance by England bowlers forced South Africa to follow-on in the 1st inning of first test match on the third day at Lords, on Saturday, 12th July, 2008. South Africa bowled out on 247 runs chasing England's 593 runs trailed by 346 runs in the 1st inning, South Africa were 13/0 in the 2nd inning at the stump of day 3.

Monty Panesar took the bowling honours with four wickets for England, Ryan Sidebottom and Chris Broad took 2 wickets each.

For South Africa, only Ashwell prince shown some resistance with fine century 101 runs off 181 balls with 13 fours and 1 six.

Ian Bell's 199 runs and Pietersen's 152 runs helped host England to declare their 1st inning on 593 runs for 8 wickets against South Africa on the 2nd day of first test match at Lords, on Friday, 11th July, 2008. South Africa made 7/0 at the stumps of day 2.

Both Bell and Pietersen continued their overnight form and made a record partnership of 286 runs for the fourth wicket. Pietersen out on 152 runs off just 181 balls with 20 fours and 1 six. Bell then made a partnership of 152 runs with Broad for the 8th wicket as Bell out on 199, and Broad a pleasing 76 runs.

Bell just missed his 1st double hundred as out on career-best 199 runs off 336 balls with 20 fours and 1 six.

South African captain Graem Smith won the toss and invited host England to bat 1st in the first test match of the 4 test match series at Lords, on Thursday, 10th July, 2008. England reached 268 runs for the loss of three wickets in 80 overs.

Alastair Cook (60 runs) and Andrew Strauss (44 runs) pushed England to 114 without loss before three wickets tumbled in 13 balls. England's openers overcame South Africa's pace attack to dominate the opening session of the first test but after the quick wickets, Ian Bell and Kevin Pietersen put some resistance and manged to avoid collapse.

South Africa came back strongly in the second session of the day with 3 quick wickets as Dale Steyn and Morkel took 1 and 2 wickets respectively. Morkel removed openers and Steyn cleaned up England captain Michael Vaughn on 2.

India reaches the Final of 2008 Asia Cup, in style by chasing a target of 308 runs against against Sri Lanka in the 5th match of Super Four round, at National Stadium, Karachi, on Thursday, 3rd July, 2008. Both India and Sri Lanka are in final will be played on 6th July, 2008.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat 1st and scored 308 runs in 50 overs, due to fine batting by Jaysuriya, Jaywardene and Kapugedera, scored 43, 50 and 75 runs respectively.

In reply, India chased successfully 308 runs with 19 balls remaining, thanks to brilliant batting by Sehwag, Gambhir, Raina and Dhoni, scored, 42, 68, 54 and 67 runs respectively. This is the same scored which Pakistan chased against India in the previous match.

Final of Asia Cup will be played between India and Sri Lanka on Sunday, 6th July 2008.
