Australia vs Pakistan ICC Twenty World Cup 2nd Semi-Final Match Result - Australia won by 3 wickets

Australia vs Pakistan ICC Twenty World Cup 2nd Semi-Final Match Result - Australia won by 3 wickets

2010 ICC Twenty World Cup Australia beat Pakistan 2nd Semi-Final Matches win 3 wickets, with 1 balls remaining, on Friday, 14th May, 2010, at Gros Islet. Pak made 191/6 in 20 overs while Aus made 197/7 in 19.5 overs. man of the Match is Michael Hussey who made 60 runs off 24 balls with 3 fours and 6 sixes.

Michael Hussey was the man in Sydney and he was the man here again, his captain Michael Clarke calling him, justifiably, a "freak," afterwards. Like Michael Bevan on speed, he pulled off an improbable heist, having come in at 105 for five in the 13th over, with too much needed and not enough wickets in hand.

Australia hunted away, gripped in, stuck at it. And with one ball to go, they pulled off an astonishing chase of 192 to enter Sunday's final, leaving on Pakistan the deepest kind of scars in an already abusive relationship. On this form, England needn't bother turning up.

Match Summary:

Pakistan made - 191/6 in 20 overs (Umar Akmal 56, Kamran Akmal 50)

Australia made - 197/7 in 19.5 overs (Hussey 60*, White 43, Aamer 3-35)

Toss - Australia, who chose to field.

Man of the Match - Michael Hussey (Australia)

Result - Australia won by 3 wickets (with 1 ball remaining)

Australia Dirk Nannes, Shaun Tait and Mitchell Johnson, have taken 29 wickets between them in this tournament. The pace, angles and intent they bring are difficult to compete against and if they fire as they have been doing, there will be little stopping Australia.

Pakistan all shades of black and blue for the last ten internationals running between the two, including the group game earlier, also incidentally, at St Lucia. And historically, they are also the team least bewildered by Pakistan's mood swings.

Australia ICC T20 WC Team, Playing Eleven at Gros Islet:

Shane Watson, David Warner, Brad Haddin (wk), Michael Clarke (capt), David Hussey, Cameron White, Michael Hussey, Steve Smith, Mitchell Johnson, Dirk Nannes, Shaun Tait.

Pakistan do not require a mathematical miracle to get through. A win here, and an England win over New Zealand, remarkably, might guarantee them a spot in the semis, given that Pakistan's net run-rate is superior to both New Zealand and South Africa.

South Africa would look the likelier bet, if only because Pakistan have been so timid and unsure through the tournament. But at spin-friendly St Lucia, with big stakes on the line, certainty is in short supply.

Pakistan ICC T20 WC Team, Playing Eleven at Gros Islet:

Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal (wk), Mohammad Hafeez/Khalid Latif, Umar Akmal, Misbah-ul-Haq ,Shahid Afridi (capt), Abdul Razzaq, Mohammad Aamer, Mohammad Sami, Abdur Rehman, Saeed Ajmal

Australia stormed to a resounding 81-run win that all but assured their semi-finals spot as Sri Lanka were steamrolled by extreme pace and sustained pressure, folding for 87. This will also be West Indies' first early-morning start in the tournament, and might take some adjusting. Their fast bowlers won't mind, though. Kemar Roach and Jerome Taylor would have liked what they saw when Australia bounced India out. They will need all the help from their fielders, though, who were hopeless against Sri Lanka.

Australia have shown their power and no signs of the slips that have softened up their previous two World Twenty20 campaigns.Following group victories against Pakistan and Bangladesh and a convincing 49-run win over India, they are the form team of the competition.

Sri Lanka who stumbled in the tournament-opener against New Zealand, lost the rust that their board complained publicly about with a 57-run thrashing of West Indies on Friday. Both teams have on-song batsmen at the top of the order while their bowling attacks are also clicking. Whoever wins will probably have done enough to earn a spot in the semi-finals, so there is extra motivation in this compelling fixture.

New Zealand pulled off their second nail-biting victory and their first Twenty20 win over defending champions Pakistan, who are now on the brink of elimination. After rescuer-in-chief Daniel Vettori revived New Zealand following the failure of big names, they survived an Abdul Razzaq onslaught and Salman Butt's level-headed batting to come through by one run and boost their chances of making the semi-finals.

Pakistan's army of spinners was outstanding in Barbados to keep New Zealand down to what seemed a below-par total, but once their middle-order collapsed and captain Shahid Afridi was dismissed in the 10th over, the score was 58 for 5 and New Zealand looked in charge.

Match Summary:

New Zealand made - 133/7 in 20 overs (Vettori 38, Rehman 2-19, Sami 2-25)

West Indies overcame Ireland pretty comfortably in their opening match and should face a much sterner test against an England side desperately hoping to break their duck in global tournaments. Ottis Gibson will have plenty of inside knowledge about this England team and has regular captain Chris Gayle back from injury to implement every devious plan he makes.

England will be testing out yet another opening partnership in Twenty20 cricket and with Craig Kieswetter and Michael Lumb they feel they have finally stumbled on a combination powerful enough to boss the early overs. Quietly England have developed a competitive limited-overs side that, with Eoin Morgan there to finish an innings, appears to have all its bases covered.

Pakistan VS Australia ICC Twenty World Cup 6th Match Result - Australia won by 34 runs

Pakistan VS Australia ICC Twenty World Cup 6th Match Result - Australia won by 34 runs

2010 ICC Twenty World Cup Australia beat Pakistan 6th Matches win 34 runs, on Sunday, 2nd May, 2010, at Gros Islet. Aus made 191/all out; 20 overs while Pak made 157/all out; 20 overs. man of the Match is Shane Watson who made 81 runs off 49 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes.

Australia began to right previous wrongs in this format with an emphatic dismantling of the defending champions at St Lucia, a 34-run win serving serious notice to one and all of their intentions in this tournament. They wear a fresh look about them in this tournament, under a new captain in Michael Clarke at a global event for the first time since 1999 and with some very handy specialists in the squad, Brutal half-centuries from Shane Watson and David Hussey set them up, before equally brutal pace shoved aside Pakistan's batsmen.

Pakistan fielding was slowly unraveling and Salman Butt drop when Hussey was 18 was particularly unnecessary; the reprieve unleashed a violent celebration. To rub it in, he took it out on Mohammad Sami, the unlucky bowler. He had bowled well until the 16th over, when his length and head went, allowing Hussey to loft and pull his way to four sixes and a 28-run over. Amid the mess, Watson's innings briefly forgotten, Hussey's own fifty came up.
