India vs Pakistan 4th Asia Cup Match Result - India won by 3 wickets

2010 Asia Cup Series, India beat Pakistan 4th Matches win 3 wickets, with 1 ball remaining, on Saturday, 19th June, 2010, at Dambulla. Pak made 267/all out; 49.3 overs while Ind made 271/7 in 49.5 overs. man of the Match is Gautam Gambhir who made 83 runs off 97 balls with 6 fours and 1 sixes.

Pakistan Their top three - Salman Butt, Imran Farhat and Shoaib Malik - had built a platform from where a total of 300 was probable, but a collapse eroded their position from 144 for 1 to 159 for 4. A regular fall of wickets thereafter, and especially the loss of Shahid Afridi and Adbul Razzaq before the batting Powerplay was underway, gave rise to the possibility of a total less than 250.

India needing three off two balls with tailenders batting - seemed improbable when Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni put on an exhibition of clinical accumulation during their partnership of 98, which left only 89 to get off the last 15 overs with eight wickets in hand. They ran hard, pierced gaps, and muscled pressure-relieving boundaries whenever the asking-rate crept over six an over.

Match Summary:

Pakistan made - 267/all out; 49.3 overs (Butt 74, Kamran 51, Kumar 3-53)

India made - 271/7 in 49.5 overs (Gambhir 83, Dhoni 56, Ajmal 3-56)

Toss - Pakistan, who chose to bat.

Man of the Match - Gautam Gambhir (India)

Result - India won by 3 wickets (with 1 ball remaining)

India Having been rescued by a freakish spell of offspin from Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni will want more from his frontline bowlers this time around. He will not read much into the failures of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma during the chase - the young top order's real test will be against Shoaib and co., who will try to bounce them out.

Pakistan Shoaib Malik must be anxious to stand up and be counted, given the fractious relationship he has endured with team management. He loves facing the Indian attack, and will look to fill his boots again. He was under-bowled in the first game, but in the absence of a specialist spinner in the XI, he may be given a longer stint in the middle overs.
