Englan beat New Zealand by 126 runs in 2nd Test to level series

England won the 2nd test match by 126 runs against New Zealand on the fifth and final day of the match at Basin Reserve, Wellington.

Ryan Sidebottom ended England's long wait for an overseas victory by claiming a five-wicket haul to secure a 126-run triumph over New Zealand in the second Test.

After resuming on their overnight 242 for 6, their hopes had been invested in their last recognised pair of Brendon McCullum and Daniel Vettori, but Sidebottom dismissed Vettori for a duck with his sixth ball of the morning, and though McCullum blazed merrily for a boundary-laden 85, the match was wrapped up with half an hour to spare before lunch.

England were made to work hard for their win, however. New Zealand's total was the highest they had ever recorded in the fourth innings. McCullum had defied England for over three hours at the crease, hitting nine fours and three sixes.

The teams will now head to Napier for a series decider starting on Friday.
