England invited to bat first in the 1st ODI and were 84/2 after 20 overs against New Zealand at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street, on Sunday, 15th June, 2008. England is high in confidence after their thumping win in the Twenty20 at Old Trafford on Friday.

England won the test series as well as one off Twenty20 and aiming to win ODI Series also.

New Zealand is looking strong in 50 overs format of cricket but they are struggling with injuries to key players especially all rounder Jacob Oram.
