Pakistan set a target of 316 runs for India in Kitply Cup Final,Mirpur

Pakistan's batsman shown fine form when its matter most, in the Final of Kitply Cup against India, at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, on Saturday, 14th June 2008. Pakistan scored 315 runs for 3 wickets due to brilliant centuries by Salman Butt (129) and Younus Khan (108) runs.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first and their batsman responded well to reach 315 runs in 50 overs. A third wicket partnership of 205 runs 0ff 189 balls between Salman Butt contributed 129 off 136 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes and Younus Khan, scored 108 runs off 99 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Misnah-ul-Haq chipped 33 runs off 21 balls in the end.

All Indian bowlers fell apart in the face of the onslaught, eight bowlers were tried but Pakistan made the most of the lack of a fifth specialist. Piyush Chawla came into this game on the back of a morale-boosting four-wicket haul but ended up having a harrowing time, finishing with the most expensive spell by an Indian spinner in an ODI with 85 runs in 10 overs.
